Perylene Tetracarboxylic Diimide

Lateral force microscopy (LFM) images the surface morphology of PTCDI, a small-molecule organic semiconductor, with clear molecular-scale contrast.
A highly regular periodic structure with a spacing of ~0.4 nm is resolved, demonstrating the capability of LFM for nanoscale structural characterization.
