XE-Bio: Cell Discovery Like Never Before - Biophysical Society Annual Meeting 2009

The prospect of groundbreaking innovation in single live cell research through XE-Bio, the latest development from Park Systemswhich seamlessly integratesNon-Contact AFMIon Conductance Microscopy (ICM)and fluorescence microscopy on the same platform, enthused the attendees of Park Systems’ Exhibitor Presentation at the Biophysical Society Annual Meeting 2009 in Boston, USA.

XE-Bioprovides the most detailed and integrated information on nanoscale biological surfaces available today, enabling breakthrough research on single live cells by connecting their detailed structural features to cellular functions.

Distinguished researchers from Harvard Medical School, Johns Hopkins University, NIH and other major universities and research institutes expressed interest in the versatile use of ICM;ICM is the only non-invasive in-liquid scanning probe technique that does not apply any force over its sample surface, making it ideal for nanoscale imaging of soft cellular membranes. The ICM also enables localized functional studies on single live cells, including functional mapping on membrane features.

Invited Talks

Park Systems’ Invited Presentation at the Diskcon Asia Pacific, Bangkok and Singapore

Dr Ryan Yoo, director of global sales and marketing, and Dr Sang-il Park, CEO and Chairman of Park Systems, gave their invited talk at Diskcon Asia Pacific in Bangkok and Singapore, respectively. The talk, entitled “Advanced Inline Slider Metrology with Non-Contact AFM”, drew attention and interest from the audience by demonstrating examples of unique AFM solutions optimized for slider metrology which can only be realized by True Non-Contact Mode of Park Systems’ XE-AFM. Researchers from the regional institutes with data storage specialty such as Hard Disk Drive Institute (HDDI) of Thailand and Data Storage Institute (DSI) of Singapore appreciated the illustrative examples of the images and measurement results including the IBE wall angle measurements and edge defects measurements.

Park Systems CEO’s invited talk at Stanford CPN

Dr Sang-il Park, CEO and Chairman of Park Systems, gave an invited talk at the Center for Probing the Nanoscale (CPN), Stanford UniversityCPN has been founded by Stanford University and IBM Corporation, with funding from the National Science Foundation to continue their distinguished legacy in nanoprobe technology and broaden its impact.The participants who included Profs Kam Moler (co-director of CPN), N Melosh and M Brongersma, expressed animated interest in the latest technology development of XE-AFMs especially the unique advantages of XE-NSOM and XE-Bio which cannot be realized by other AFMs.
